A potential Cash Prize on offer of nearly £200 had seven teams turn up for the chance to take a bite at it. We didn't quite hit the £200 we were hoping for but there was 31 eager Quizzers on the night to take the Cash Prize to a substantial £190.
We kicked off bang on 9pm with the Picture Quiz, it was inventive this week, match the mugshot to the inventor and invention. Then it was straight into the first round of ten Questions on General Knowledge.
The Inventors Picture Round had our teams gnashing this week with the best score of 10 from 12 coming from Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat. We had two teams tying in second on seven, She and Him and Can You Tell What It Is Yet? then three on sixes, Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back, Les Petite Legumes and He Bites, He Dives, He Hates The Jackson 5, Luis Suarez (Idiot).
So most teams went with a name castigating the cheating Liverpool chomper whilst we had one concentrating on poor old Rolf. It took Quiz Master John ages to write down all of the team names!
In the General Knowledge most teams fared a lot better, Suarez Next Meal scored a perfect 10, Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back a near perfect 9 and She and Him, He Bites, He Dives, He Hates The Jackson 5, Luis Suarez (Idiot) and Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat managed eights. We thought the General Knowledge wasn't quite as tough as usual:
2. What is the name of the planet that lies between Jupiter and Uranus?
10. Who is the only British prime minister to have been assassinated?
So after starters we had Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat leading the pack on 18, Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back, She and Him and Suarez Next Meal nibbling away in second on 15 with Can You Tell What It Is Yet? and He Bites, He Dives, He Hates The Jackson 5, Luis Suarez (Idiot) on 14s a piece.
Next course, Music. Very difficult this week, with Classical, Pop and Musicals to chew over:
13. Of which supergroup was guitarist Paul ‘Bonehead’ Arthurs a founder member?
19. What did Fender name the follow up to their Telecaster guitar with the intention of evoking the new age of jet aircraft and space-age?
Joint top of the pops this week we had Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back and Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat on seven from 10, followed by Suarez Next Meal on six and She and Him, Can You Tell What It Is Yet? and He Bites, He Dives, He Hates The Jackson 5, Luis Suarez (Idiot) all on fives.
This meant going into the bite to eat we had Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat ahead on 25, Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back in second on 22 and Suarez Next Meal on 21.
Snacks were divine, a little corn biased for the Suarezes of this world but fine and delicious for the rest of us normal omnivores. Quiz Master John couldn't get away with the 'Spicy' peanuts though, he gave them to She and Him! They all went mind.
On to Sport, usually the killer round and this week it evened the scores up a bit with incisive pearlers like these:
24. Arsenal fell victim to the only side that have ever taken the FA Cup out of England. What was that team?
28. Who did Tim Henman lose to, the first time he reached a Wimbledon semi-final in 1998?
Getting the prime cuts in Sport were Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back and Suarez Next Meal with eights closely followed by He Bites, He Dives, He Hates The Jackson 5, Luis Suarez (Idiot) and Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat on sevens.
This set things up nicely for the final round Film and TV with Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat in the lead on 32, Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back on 30 and Suarez Next Meal on 29. Just three points in it for a possible £190. There were some hard questions in Film and TV but most teams did fairly well:
32. Which 70s TV sitcom saw Tom and Barbara (Goode) trying to become self-sufficient?
35. Which movie (according to Disney) became the highest grossing animated film of all time in 2010?
Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back, She and Him and Suarez Next Meal returned eights. This took Borussia Munch-On-A-Centre Back to a total of 38 ahead of Suarez Next Meal on 37, meaning Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat had to score more than a six in the round to win.
Second in the TV and Film round was Les Petite Legumes on seven and third was Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat on 6.5 just scraping it by half a point to win Quiz 67 with 38.5. What a great finale, just a half point in it, there was a big round of applause went up for the winners, our regulars Sarah, Richard, Michael, Richard C and Phil 'The Power' this week calling themselves Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat. Phil was selected by the team to draw what could be the winning prize from the three envelopes on offer from Chris the barman, middle envelope had been cash for the last couple of weeks so he went middle and drew…
Beers! Cash this week was in the left of the three envelopes when Chris showed the contents. Unlucky Phil, hard lines team Get Your Teeth Out Of My Arm You Cheating Uruguayan Twat but the good news is there is a £190 rollover going into Quiz 68, belter!
Micki had been busy getting everyone to buy into the Wild Card whilst Phil had been drawing the beers. One pound, one daft question, a numerical answer, no Googling and the closest to it gets the lot. This weeks Question for a £25 prize was:
Les Ferdinand scored the 10,000th goal in Premier League history for Tottenham against Fulham in 2001. Marc Albrighton of Aston Villa scored the 20,000th goal in Premier League history against Arsenal on the 21st of December 2011.
Including tonight's pivotal game between Manchester United and Aston Villa (22/04/13) how many goals in total have been scored in the Premier League to date?
As always, there are clues in the question to give an idea of the kind of figure we are looking for. Most people twigged and put numbers in the right sort of area so it was all down to luck from there on in.
Quiz Master John gridded all of the 25 Post-It's on his Central Operational Quiz Podium and started to filter out all of the answers over the 22,000 mark, letting each entrant know they had been deleted as he went. He then turned his attention to all those under 21,400 and again announced the names as each one was discounted. This left three yellow Post-It's, Kenny, Matt and Gary C. Kenny was taken off first, John then consulted his sheet again as we had to add the three goals Man U scored against Villa on the night and then announced that Quiz regular Matt was the winner of the £25, he was within 40 goals of the actual answer. Well done Matt, that's your Monday night out at Quiz 67 paid for.
Great stuff, it was a fun night and Quiz Master John signed off with his usual Goodnight and God Bless. Thanks to all who turned out for Quiz 67, it makes it worth the effort, we hope to see you all again for Quiz 68 where there is a potentially massive £220+ to play for!
