It was a canny turnout for Quiz 140 with a total of 28 quizzers in 7 Teams bolstering the Cash Prize on offer up to a reasonable £76.
It was a close Quiz throughout and by the final round there were four teams all with a chance of winning. It was Hammers, Hornets and Saints who edged ahead in Film & TV to win by just one point ahead of The Peoples Front Of Judea with Vito Manone’s Teflon Gloves (Idiots) in third behind them by two points. To the delight of everyone the winning team drew the Food Vouchers so we could be looking at over a ton prize to play for at Quiz 141 if we have a decent turnout.
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (the clue this week is – "Old (and new) Master creates selfie") then four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for free snacks and topping up drinks after the Music Round.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
After the main Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid. It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. Quiz 140 had £24 in for the Wild Card and this week we had a tense Dart Off between Alex the Great and Gary, two guys who managed to guess the same answer! Gary triumphed and walked away £24 better off than when he stepped up to the oche. The biggest winner to date is Jonathan B who scooped a massive £47 in Quiz 55.
Come on down and join us for The Colly Quiz, it's an entertaining night out and as Gary will vouch for... it can be worth a few quid!
