What a turnout for Quiz 137, the pub was absolutely rammed with 48 quizzers and ten teams. It was obviously the return of crowd favorite John as Quiz Presenter (recovered from his bout of man flu) which boosted the Cash Prize on offer to a whopping £113.
It was a well fought Quiz with some teams recording cracking round scores but it was regulars Taxi For Pardew who claimed the win by three points on the night even though The Peoples Front Of Judea managed a blistering 13 points from the 14 on offer in the last round. The winners drew the beers again so that gives us a big Rollover for Quiz 138 where we could have a Cash Prize of over £150 to play for if there's as good a turnout as last week.
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (the clue this week is – "Can you recognise the link between trade, girls and rack") then four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for free snacks and topping up drinks after the Music Round.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
After the main Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid. It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. Quiz 137 had a huge £34 in for the Wild Card and we had two people, Stephen and Mariana with the same answers. Our lucky winner, after a tense Dart Off, was Mariana who was well happy with her £34 Cash Prize. The biggest winner to date is Jonathan B who scooped a massive £47 in Quiz 55.
Come on down and join in The Colly Quiz, it's an entertaining night out and as Mariana found... it can be worth a few quid!
