We had a massive turnout of 44 for last weeks Quiz 191, taking the cash on offer to a decent £73.
There were loads of new faces which was great and one of the new teams The Three Big Quizzers scored a ten from the twelve available on the hardest picture round we've ever had at The Colly Quiz, so it was no surprise that they were in the running throughout. They didn't have it all their own way though, Team With No Name and Where’s That Mackem When You Want Him? fought back and by the final round there was only three points between the top trio.
The Three Big Quizzers rallied in the Film & TV Round and won their first ever Colly Quiz by one point. Our winners then drew the Food Vouchers so that means there is a £73 rollover this week and a decent turnout on Monday could see us playing for a potential Cash Prize of well over £100.
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "For purists the 24th arrives on the 26th" and if you were there last week, it's no where near as difficult!). Following the Pics we then have four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
After the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. We had a £34 Cash Prize for the Quiz 191 Wild Card and there were four extremely close answers, Peter Thorp, Chris B, Leicester Jack and Phoebe Calcutt were all within two minutes of the actual answer, which would have meant a four way dart off! However Alistair Welford's guess of 4:03 was absolutely spot on and won him the £34 readies, he was ecstatic as you can see from the picture below. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177.
Come and join us for The Colly Quiz, it's a cracking Monday night out and as Alistair will enthusiastically tell you, even if you don't win the main Quiz it's always worth putting a quid for the Wild Card question!
