We had a decent turnout of 36 for Quiz 171 which took the Cash Prize on offer up to a chunky £110.
There were nine teams involved and it was, as always, a very well contested Quiz throughout which gave us a very tight leaders board going into the final Film & TV Round. Nee Bairns The Neet were in the driving seat on 40, The Hasty Puddings were a close second on 39 and Carry On My Wayward Son were an outside chance on 37. Unbelievably Carry On My Wayward Son managed to pull back the three points required and we finished with a tie between them and Nee Bairns The Neet. Quizmaster John was delighted, it meant a Dart Off. Dan from Carry On My Wayward Son scored an incredible 145 to win the tie break by some margin but his team only drew the Beers so we go into Quiz 172 with a £110 rollover!
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "Who was Marlene McFly?" and if you don't get it turn up early and ask Chris the barman). Following the pics we then have four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
After the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. We had a decent £27 Cash Prize for the Quiz 171 Wild Card and there were four people close... but it was Louise T who was spot on with her guess and won the cash. The biggest Wild Card Winner to date is Andy who scooped a massive £48 in Quiz 158.
Come on down and join us for The Colly Quiz, it's always an entertaining night out and as Louise will confirm if you're lucky you can win some decent cash too.
