It was a great turnout of 35 Quizzers for Quiz 182 and the eight teams involved boosted the Cash Prize up to £77.
It was a one horse race from the off, Quizzy Rascals (a newish team that has been once before) raced into an early lead. Our regular brainboxes Spontaneous Wrecks Uninspired And Slightly Too Long Team Name and Who Let The Dogs Out tried to keep up but by the final Film & TV Round it was all but done and dusted. Quizzy Rascals finished strongly to win Quiz 182 with 46 points four ahead of their nearest challenger Spontaneous Wrecks Uninspired And Slightly Too Long Team Name. To everyone's delight the winners drew the Food Vouchers so that means for this weeks Quiz with a similar turnout we should be playing for somewhere in the region of £110 plus.
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "In between Rosamund Street and Viaduct Street you'll find some right characters"). Following the Pics we then have four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
After the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. We had an excellent £42 in for the Quiz 182 Wild Card and there were two close to the answer, Pasty Dave who had guessed 86 and Rich G who had guessed 88. The £42 winner on the night however was our regular Quizzer Mary Poppins who had the exact answer of 87. So it was a very happy Mary Poppins who bounced up to the bar to claim her prize. Mary was a little shy about getting her photo taken but there was a beaming smile behind those £20 notes!. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177.
Come on down and join us for The Colly Quiz, it's always an entertaining night out and as Mary Poppins will no doubt agree it's always worth putting in a quid for the Wild Card question!
