A modest turnout for a massive £170, some bizarre Pop Star Statues and a visitor attraction calculation was all in store for last weeks Quiz 186.

We were hoping the potential Cash Prize of £180 plus might get a good turnout for Quiz 186 but there were only a few in by 8pm and as the time rolled on toward nine there weren’t very many additions. Then the penny dropped, Newcastle were away at West Ham and it was on the telly!

We still started the Quiz, even though there were only five teams, and it turned into quite a night. Pronto Soccorso sprinted into the lead and looked odds on winners two points ahead going into the final round, especially as Film and TV was usually a strong round for them. Rascal Ferrets On Vibes had other ideas though and nailed the round with a massive 14 points, leap frogging the leaders in the process and winning the Quiz by three points with 51 scored. Rascal Ferrets On Vibes team member Rob then completed a memorable night by drawing the envelope containing the £170 Cash Prize!

Quiz 186 Winners, Rascal Ferrets On Vibes were well happy with their £170 Cash Prize!

The winners are a generous bunch, they put £20 back in the pot for Quiz 187 so if we get a decent turnout the Cash Prize for this coming Monday could be over the £50 mark.

The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "Took some time researching this weeks as most of them have famously split"). Following the Pics we then have four themed rounds of General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.

The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.

Richard managed to win a Wild Card consolation of £18

After the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one obscure question where we are looking for a number or date and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken on the night. We had a £18 in for the Quiz 186 Wild Card and this week there were again three reasonably close to the answer, but it was Quiz runner-up, Richard, who was the nearest and therefore the winner of the cash. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177.

Come and join us for The Colly Quiz, it's a fun night out and as Richard will agree, even if you don't win the main Quiz it's always worth putting a quid in for the Wild Card question!
