Last weeks Quiz 212 was another excellent nights entertainment. A small but perfectly formed crowd of 20 Quizzers turned out to take the Cash Prize on offer to a rather mammoth £146. Quiz 212s runaway winners went and drew the Cash Prize so this week we are looking at around a £50 fund to play for as our generous champs put £20 back for a rollover.
It's not just about the winning though, our Quiz is always a chuckle, whether it be the subject of the questions, the comments by the Teams or even the incomprehensible Wild Card Question at the end of the night... there's always some amusement to be had.
If you fancy a crack at The Colly Quiz make sure you get here early as it has been fairly busy recently (well, aside from last week). In fact, why not make a night of it and come down for a pre-Quiz meal... we have some cracking food on the menu including authentic (and very spicy!) Thai Curries plus the finest Latin Burgers in Newcastle! Check out our menu.
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "Sigue Sigue Sputnik, Sepultura, Sugababes slipped short setting selection"). Following the Pics we then have four rounds on General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
The winners of last weeks Quiz were our regulars Are You Making The Gap A Bit Smaller So Spontaneous Wrecks Have To Have A Shorter Name? It’s Not Working! who gradually amassed their points over the Quiz and entered Film & TV, a traditionally a strong round for them, three points ahead. They won the Round and therefore the Quiz and team member Hazel went and drew the £146 Cash Prize!
Every week after the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one very obscure question where we are looking for a number or date that nobody in their right mind would know and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken for the Wild Card on the night.
There was £21 in the pot for Quiz 212s Wild Card and it was one of the Spontaneous Wrecks, Peter J, who was the lucky winner on the night. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177!
Come and join us for Quiz 213 at The Colly on Easter Monday, it's always a canny night's crack and this week, we could be playing for a potential £50 plus Cash Prize.
Quiz Tip: You need to have a broad range of ages as well as knowledge in a team for The Colly Quiz. So if you are youngish try to get an older friend to join your team for the 70s and 80s questions and if you are on the wrong side of 40 try and get your kids or younger work colleagues to join you for the Music, TV and Films from the last 10 years.
