Last weeks Quiz 214 returned to a more normal turnout after a bit of a 'sparse' attendance over Easter. Our regulars Hasty Puddings and Spontaneous Wrecks were back, we had a rare appearance from The Academy and we even had The Idiots back in the bar!

A total of ten Teams and 33 Quizzers in all took the Cash Prize on offer to a reasonable £70.  It's not just about the winning the Cash though, our Quiz is always a bit of a chuckle, whether it be the subject of the questions, the Team Names or even an interactive Picture Round... there's always some laughs to be had.

Get here early and try one of our tasty Latin Burgers

If you fancy a crack at The Colly Quiz make sure you get here early as it has been fairly busy recently (well, apart from Easter!). In fact, you could make a night of it and come down for a pre-Quiz meal... we have some delicious food on the menu including authentic (and a tad spicy!) Thai Curries plus the finest Latin Burgers in Newcastle! Check out our menu.

The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "That's all folks! Oh don't be so negative."). Following the Pics we then have four rounds on General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for the free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.

The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.

The winners of last weeks Quiz were our resident improv comedy crew Spontaneous Wrecks who were well on the ball all night, even in Sport... and won by a comfortable five points in the end. They drew the Beers though so this week it could be a Cash prize of over £100!

Our Quiz Winners Spontaneous Wrecks drew the beers at Quiz 214 but they will be back for this Monday trying for the £100 plus Cash Prize!

Every week after the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one very obscure question where we are looking for a number or date that nobody in their right mind would know and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken for the Wild Card on the night.

There was a mammoth (compared to last week) £34 in the pot for Quiz 214s Wild Card and last weeks winner, local pooch Cosmo was close once more, coming second to his drinking buddy Richard who was the happy winner on the night. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177!

Regular Quizzer Richard was well chuffed with his £34 Cash Prize, he must be up there as one of the most frequent Wild Card winners at the The Colly Quiz.

Come and join us for Quiz 215 at The Colly this Monday, it's always a canny night out and this week, we could be playing for a potential £100 plus Cash Prize.

Quiz Tip: You need to have a broad range of ages as well as knowledge in a team for The Colly Quiz. So if you are youngish try to get an older friend to join your team for the 70s and 80s questions and if you are on the wrong side of 40 try and get your kids or younger work colleagues to join you for the Music, TV and Films from the last 10 years.
