Quiz 220 was another great nights entertainment. A small but eager crowd of 22 Quizzers turned out to take the Cash Prize on offer to a tempting £135. It was another well contested Quiz throughout but our eventual winners, who had a sensational final round, went and drew the Cash!
It's not just about winning the Cash though, our Quiz is always a titter, whether it be the subject of the questions, the Team names or even the poor pronunciation of the Quiz Master... there's always a laugh to be had.
Fancy a crack at The Colly Quiz? It's a great way to start the week and new teams are always welcome. Whether you're new or a regular you could always make a night of it and come down for a pre-Quiz meal... we have some delicious food on the menu including authentic (and a tad spicy!) Thai Curries, the finest Latin Burgers in Newcastle and a recent addition, Chilli Cheese Fries!
The Quiz starts at 9.00pm with a Picture Round* (The clue this week is "For recognising national identity the devil is in the detail..."). Following the Pics we then have four rounds on General Knowledge, Music, Sport and Film and TV with a five minute break for free snacks and topping up drinks after round two.
The winners of the nights Quiz choose from three envelopes that contain either the cash prize, food vouchers or a case of drinks. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the next weeks Quiz, the biggest cash prize to date is £317 won by Hand Over The Cash Michaela 25/03/13 in Quiz 63.
The winners of last weeks Quiz were Rascal Ferrets who were there or thereabouts throughout the night but absolutely nailed it with a 100% score on the final round of Film & TV to win. Team member Robin then chose the envelope with the £135 Cash to top a cracking night for them. They are a generous bunch though, after divvying up their spoils the Rascal Ferrets then put £30 back in the pot for Quiz 221 so with a half decent turnout we could still be playing for £60 plus this Monday.
Every week after the Quiz we have a Wild Card Question which anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 etc). It's one very obscure question where we are looking for a number or date that nobody in their right mind would know and the nearest to the actual answer gets the whole pot of money taken for the Wild Card on the night.
There was a canny £20 in the pot for Quiz 220s Wild Card and it was another Colly regular Sarah who scored on the night. Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177!
Come and join us for Quiz 221 at The Colly this coming Monday, it's always a decent night out plus you get some delicious free half-time snacks and this week we may be playing for a possible £60 plus Cash Prize.

Quiz Tip: You need to have a broad range of ages as well as knowledge in a team for The Colly Quiz. So if you are youngish try to get an older friend to join your team for the 70s and 80s questions and if you are on the wrong side of 40 try and get your kids or younger work colleagues to join you for the Music, TV and Films from the last 10 years.
