Come down and join us this coming Monday evening for Quiz 331 where with a half decent turnout we could be playing for a Cash Prize of £80 plus!
There was a canny crowd of 31 quizzers in ten teams for Quiz 330 which took the Cash Prize to £56. It was a competitive quiz to start but by the the final Film & TV round it looked like it was between Charles As-Nee-Voice, Spontaneous Wrecks and Collingwood 1973. Charles As-Nee-Voice fared the best in the final round to win on the night but drew the Food Vouchers.
It's not just about winning the Quiz though, it's the challenge of pitting your wits against the best brains in Jesmond. Plus the victors get the honour of winning the longest running (and most challenging) Quiz Night in Jesmond!
Even if you aren't in the running for top spot our Quiz is still an entertaining night out. The questions are stimulating, the team names risque and the banter amusing – or is that called heckling? – anyway its always a fun-filled evening.
So get yourself down to The Colly this coming Monday and join us for the Quiz. It's a great way to give your brain a bit of mental exercise in preparation for the week ahead and new teams are always made welcome.
New Drinks Promotion!
Double house spirit and mixer just £2.50.
Bottle of house wine only £8.
Between 7-9pm Every Day!
You could make a proper night of it and get down early for our 7-9pm drinks promotion and a pre-Quiz meal. We have some delicious food on the menu. Try our authentic Thai Curries (made by a Thai Chef so spicy!) or maybe you fancy the finest Latin Burgers in Newcastle. See our full menu here.
We start the Quiz at 9.00pm with a Picture Round. The clue to the picture round this week is "Attention to detail when traveling". We then have four rounds; General Knowledge, Music, Sport plus Film and TV.
The winners of the Quiz choose from three envelopes. Each envelope contains a slip of paper specifying either, Food Vouchers, Beers or Cash Prize. If the cash isn't drawn it rolls over to the following weeks Quiz adding to the entry money on the night. As long as the cash isn't drawn this keeps rising every week to create a bumper stash of potential winnings. The biggest Cash Prize to date is a whopping £500 won by I Think You’ll Find That Monkeys Mine at Quiz 293.
Every week after the Quiz we usually have a Wild Card Question. Anyone in the bar can join in for a quid (or if you want two goes it's £2, three £3 and so on). The Wild Card is a single question with an unfathomable number or date answer, so more of an educated guess. The person nearest to the actual answer gets all the money in for the Wild Card on the night (there's no drawing of envelopes!). Our biggest Wild Card winner to date is Mike H who scored for a massive £61 in Quiz 177!
So come and join us for Quiz 331 at The Colly on Monday 8th October. It's always a canny night out (plus you get delicious free half-time snacks) and this week we could be playing for an £80+ Cash Prize.
Quiz Tip: It helps if you have a broad range of ages as well as knowledge in your team for The Colly Quiz. So if you are youngish try to get an older friend to join your team for the 70s and 80s questions. If you are on the wrong side of 40 try and get your kids or younger work colleagues to join you for the Music, TV and Films from the last 10 years.
Give The Preview A Like!
The turnout for our Quiz Night is always difficult to call at The Colly. Some weeks it can be 40+ yet other weeks, even with a whopping Cash Prize, we might have just 20 odd. There seems to be no rhyme nor reason for this fluctuation (apart from if it's raining so it seems!).
So to give us an idea if there will be a decent turnout or not, please click the little 'Like' heart at the top of the page if you are coming. This will help us gauge if we should have one or two bar staff and if we need to print out five Picture Rounds and Answer Sheets or fifteen! Much appreciated.
