Details of June's acts coming soon...
The Bluebuds started life through brothers Justin and Kirk Boulton, they have soaked up music all their lives giving life to the melting pot that is The Bluebuds sound, learning to play instruments and styles way beyond their years. After playing as just a duo for a year The Bluebuds expanded into a fuller band sound, adding drums and double bass (Scott Fenner, Dan CK) which gave even more life to the songs, the organic sound of The Bluebuds is like a timeless thing you will all remember, like a dream of a life untouched by modern ways, dancing, drinking and singing under the stars together, songs to make you remember we all matter, songs matter and music is still alive....
'When I first heard The Bluebuds I was convinced I was hearing some ancient Virginian mountain band, recorded in a woodland cabin in 1931. Imagine my surprise when they turned out to be a bunch of beardy blokes from Fishburn, pulling gloriously rustic sounds out of nowhere, and capable of both rousing stomps and delicate balladeering in equal measure. Great band, and the bassist is a dead ringer for Abraham Lincoln"
Bob Fischer BBC Tees.....
Monkey Junk are John Nellist and Andy Turnbull, founders of The Monkey Junk Blues Club which is on every Thursday at The Butterfly Cabinet. They play a range of Gospel/Delta/Traditional blues. Andy is one serious player, plays slide guitar like a demon, his finger picking is unreal and his rag time is unstoppable!! Come and see Monkey Junk play some real blues!!
The music starts at 8:30pm
Our next Live...@The_Colly promises to be a cracker. We've had all the acts on before and they went down a storm but this night will have an added twist. It's our favourite Colly hostest with the mostest's going away party... Micki's leaving to go and travel the world, so come down and wish her 'Bon Voyage', it's going to be a fantastic night, featuring:
Richard Gardner is one of the hardest working musicians from the North East! He holds a lot of shows all over the region with a back catalogue of songs bigger than any yellow pages! He is an entertainer and a brilliant songwriter, an amazing musician. He played the very first Live...@The_Colly and got a hell of a response from the crowd and that is why we have him on again. His music is a wide range from Folk, Blues to even Pop (in his own way) Guaranteed to make you move and listen... the one and only - Richard Gardner!
Michael Littlefield and Scott Taylor
Micheal and Scott are an amazing duo, both have authentic old school blues voices, play their instruments with pure passion and if soul could be bottled you would want some of theirs. Michael's guitar playing is unbelievable, the fact he can sing whilst playing such complex guitar riffs is outstanding. Scott's harmonica is just as good, he growls and the fast melodies are backed up with a Muddy Waters voice that oozes coolness. These two are not to be missed!
Monkey Junk are John Nellist and Andy Turnbull. They are the founders of The Monkey Junk Blues Club which is on every Thursday at The Butterfly Cabinet. Playing a range of Gospel, Delta and Traditional blues they feature one of the best blues guitarists in the region in Andy. He is one serious player, his slide guitar is demonic, his finger picking is unreal and his rag time is unstoppable!! Come and see Monkey Junk play some real blues!
